Vapor-phase carbonylation of dimethoxymethane over H-Faujasite.
Carbonylation gets a phase lift: The usual liquid-phase, high-pressure processes for carbonylating formaldehydes are avoided in a novel vapor-phase reaction. Using an acid zeolite (Faujasite) at near-atmospheric pressure dimethoxymethane (DMM; the dimethyl acetal of formaldehyde; see scheme) is carbonylated to produce methyl methoxyacetate (MMAc). This approach provides a new route to ethylene ...
متن کاملChelation-assisted carbonylation reactions catalyzed by Rh and Ru complexes*
This account reviews chelation-assisted carbonylation reactions catalyzed by late transition metals. New carbonylation reactions are achieved with these catalysts in the presence of pyridin-2-ylmethanol and pyridin-2-ylmethylamine. The reactions involve activation of O−H and N−H bonds, coordination of the pyridine nitrogen to Rh being essential for the reaction to proceed. In addition, a new ty...
متن کاملStep enhanced dehydrogenation of ethanol on Rh
We have investigated the adsorption and decomposition of ethanol on the Rh(111) and Rh(553) surfaces at room temperature with special emphasis on the dehydrogenation. We use high resolution core level photoemission and density functional theory (DFT) based simulations. A detailed analysis of the C1s core level spectra, including analysis of the vibrational fine-structure and comparison to calcu...
متن کاملEffect of textural properties of Ni (Nano)-supported catalysts on the selective benzene hydrogenation in the vapor phase
Ni catalysts supported on Nano porous catalysts were prepared by the impregnation method and tested for vapor phase hydrogenation of benzene. The textural and physico-chemical properties of Ni catalysts were characterized by the X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope and N2 adsorption-desorption analysis. The catalytic evaluation reve...
متن کاملSupported Rh-phosphine complex catalysts for continuous gas-phase decarbonylation of aldehydes.
Heterogeneous silica supported rhodium-phosphine complex catalysts are employed for the first time in the catalytic decarbonylation of aldehydes in continuous gas-phase. The reaction protocol is exemplified for the decarbonylation of p-tolualdehyde to toluene and further extended to other aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes achieving excellent results in terms of both conversion and selectivity.
